ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Sept. 12, 2021) - The Loras College women's soccer team (4-0-1, 0-0-0 A-R-C) wrapped up their weekend in St. Louis with another non-conference matchup against the Griffins from Fontbonne University (1-2-0, 0-0-0 SLIAC). After entering halftime tied, two second half goals from
Abby Eriksen and
Caitlin Farrell catapulted the Duhawks to their fourth win of the season.
The Duhawks put one on the scoreboard first in the 17th minute of the match as Eriksen netted her first of two goals on the day to take a 1-0 lead early. Ten minutes later, Fontbonne's Krystal Kohenskey responded to tie the game at one apiece where the score stayed until the half.
Midway through the second half, it was again Eriksen who found the back of the net for the Duhawks, ending the stalemate in the 66th minute to go ahead 2-1 before Farrell padded the lead at two goals in the 84th minute to secure the 3-1 victory over the Griffins.
Loras dominated offensively through the whole 90 minutes, hammering Fontbonne goalkeeper Mary Beers with 8 shots on goal, outshooting the Griffins 10-1 in the game. Eriksen's two goals place her atop the Duhawks in goals scored with four on the year while Farrell's marks her first goal of the season.
The Duhawks are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 15 as they travel to Naperville, Ill. to take on the North Central College Cardinals in another non-conference match on the road. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
