LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 25, 2021) - Receiving a No. 17 ranking by United Soccer Coaches and a No. 18 ranking by D3Soccer.com this week, the Loras College women's soccer team (8-0-1, 1-0-0 A-R-C) opened their American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) schedule in Lincoln, Neb. against the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves (2-6-0, 0-1-0 A-R-C). The Duhawks' 1-0 win marks their fifth victory in a row to remain unbeaten on the season.
The game's lone goal came early in the first half in the seventh minute as
Hannah Schmitz intercepted a Nebraska Wesleyan pass to send the ball down field for
Brynn Jacobi, who took a shot on net that was saved by Prairie Wolf goalkeeper Leslie Borges but popped back out for Jacobi to continue play and tuck the ball into the back of the net to solidify a 1-0 victory.
The Duhawks commanded the game through the full 90 minutes, firing off a total of 18 shots in the game with nine on goal. Kyndall Kells had a light game in net for the Duhawks as the back line held the Prairie Wolves to zero shots on goal in the game. Jacobi's goal comes as her second on the season.
Loras returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 as they travel to Monmouth, Ill. to take on the Fighting Scots from Monmouth College in a non-conference bout. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
