MOORHEAD, Minn. (Sept. 5, 2021) - Immediately after taking down the Dominican University Stars in their home opener on Saturday afternoon, the Loras College women's soccer team (3-0-0, 0-0-0 A-R-C) shipped up to Moorhead, Minn. to take on the Concordia College Cobbers (0-3-0, 0-0-0 MIAC) in their third game of the week. Four different Duhawks found the back of the net, led by junior forward
Abby Eriksen who scored her first two goals of the year in the 5-0 road victory.
The game was controlled by the Duhawks from the first whistle, with the first goal of the game coming in 40th second as
Payton McDonnell connected with Eriksen for her first goal of the game.
The score stayed at 1-0 through the majority of the first half until freshman
Isabel Russmann netted her first career goal as a Duhawk in the 37th minute with
Savannah Johnson earning her first assist of the year on the play, bringing the score to 2-0 at halftime.
Eriksen netted her second goal of the game in the 57th minute on another pass from McDonnell to widen the lead to three early in the second half.
The final two goals of the game came within a minute of each other in the 88th minute, with sophomore
Kaighin Frost and freshman
Lauren Riggle scoring their first goals of the season to secure the 5-0 win to extend the Duhawks' win streak to three games.
Eriksen led the offense with her two goals on the day, with McDonnell receiving an assist on each of Eriksen's goals.
Rylee Quillen joined McDonnell, also with two assists on the day while Johnson and Russman each had one apiece. In net,
Kyndal Kells recorded her third clean sheet of the season, as the Duhawks' defense held the Cobbers to just four shots on goal.
Loras returns home on Wednesday, Sept. 8 as they play host to Concordia University (Wis.). The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa.
