DECORAH, Iowa (Nov. 13, 2022) – Wrestling season is back for the Loras College wrestling team as the Duhawks traveled to Decorah, Iowa this weekend for the Luther Open, where senior
Shane Liegel led the way by placing first with a tech fall, fall, and two decisions as he claims first place in the season debut.
Lots of freshman getting their first taste of Duhawk wrestling, freshman Dustin Bohren also claims first in the 157-lb division with a tech fall, pinfall, major decision, and an 8-2 decision to claim first place. Also, freshman
Allen Catour got his feet wet in his first Loras matches as he claimed fifth place this weekend. In the 174-lb matches,
Kam Royster also claims fifth place.
Sophomore
Kolby Heinz placed eighth in his season debut, with
Jalen Schroop placing fifth in the 149-lb weight class. Junior
Daniel Meeker also got into the action with a seventh place finish.
One of the top returners for the Duhawks
Gabe Fiser had a fifth place finish this weekend.
Tad Griffith tied with
Kolton Bartow at eighth in the Elite 174-lb weight class. Freshman
Nosa Egbon placed sixth in his first couple matches as a Duhawk. In the silver 141-lb weight class
Chase Fiser placed fourth. In the silver 149-lb weight class
Eric Kindaid placed third.
The Duhawks are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 16 versus Buena Vista University for their first dual of the season in the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 P.M.
