DAVENPORT, Fla. (March 14, 2022) - The RV Loras College baseball team (13-0, 0-0 A-R-C) closed out their week of play in Florida on Monday morning, squaring off against the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers (1-5, 0-0 IHSA). The Duhawks solidified their 13th straight victory in dominant fashion, led by senior pitcher Erik Edminster who collected a career-best nine strikeouts in the game as the Duhawks ended the game in the seventh inning by the 10 run rule.

The Duhawks got on the board early in the second inning of the game as Chris Costantino drew a walk to lead the inning off before being thrown out at second as Ryan Wohlers reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs in the inning, Max McCallum walked to put two runners on for Luke Fennelly who drove a single into right field, bringing Wohlers home and putting McCallum on second. With a runner in scoring position, Dakota Church hit a ball into deep left field, scoring Fennelly and McCallum but was thrown out at second as he tried to extend his single into a double to give Loras a 3-0 lead at the end of the second inning.

Another run crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning as Joe Egan wore a pitch to reach first before he stole second. With an out in the inning and a runner on second, Fennelly roped a ball into left field for a double that scored Egan to extend the lead to four runs after four innings of play.

Four more runs crossed the plate an inning later as Daniel Rogers led the inning off with a single before Dylan Pardoe followed suit and hit a single of his own to put two runners on the path for Costantino. Costantino drove a single into right field to advance Pardoe to second but Rogers was thrown out at home trying to score on the play. With just one out in the inning and two runners still on base, Wohlers found the gap in left center to bring home Costantino and Pardoe, giving Loras a six run lead. Wohlers advanced to third a batter later as Egan hit a single into the outfield before he stole second to put two runners in scoring position for McCallum, who hit a sacrifice fly that scored both runners on the play to bring the score to 8-0 at the end of the fifth.

The last two runs of the game scored in the bottom of the sixth inning as Rogers reached on a base on balls to led the inning off before he advanced to third on a Pardoe single to the outfield. Costantino brought home Rogers on a sacrifice fly out to right field before Wohlers hit another RBI double to score Pardoe and bring the game to a close at 10-0.

Edminster dished 6.0 innings on the mound for the Duhawks, striking out nine and allowing only three hits in the game, keeping the Chargers scoreless before Ethan Peters closed out the game in the seventh inning, recording a pair of strikeouts.

Wohlers led the Duhawks' offensive efforts with a 2-for-4 outing at the plate, tallying two doubles and driving in three runs. Fennelly had a 3-for-4 day with a pair of RBIs while Rogers and Pardoe also added two runs apiece.

The Duhawks return to Iowa to take on the Cornell College Rams in a three-game series that is set to be played in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 19. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM on the campus of Mount Mercy University with the second game to immediately follow.
