PELLA, Iowa (May 3, 2022) – The Loras College men's tennis team (10-10, 4-4 A-R-C) saw its season come to a close on Tuesday in the opening round of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament as the Duhawks fell 5-0 in a tough matchup against Central College (10-8, 5-3 A-R-C).
Loras battled through two marathon matches in doubles play with
Kevin Blomquist and
Thomas Kampmier against Tanner Finken and Nick Scott at the No. 1 spot. The duo fought back against the Dutch in a narrow 8-7 loss.
Sean Gelski and
Kareem Kassas also played through a tough matchup at No. 3 against Matthew Den Adel and Trey Melvin but fell short in an 8-7 outcome. Central took the early 3-0 lead after doubles and kept the momentum rolling with wins at the No. 3 and 4 spots to secure the win.
The Duhawks conclude the 2021-22 with an overall record of 10-10 and their fifth-straight trip to the A-R-C Tournament.
