Weiman Named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

July 11, 2022 – Loras College Director of Athletic Communications Emily Adlfinger announced the hiring of Troy Weiman as the next Assistant Director of Athletic Communications on Monday. A native of Davenport, Iowa, Weiman comes to Loras after serving in a similar role at Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia.

At Piedmont, Weiman served as the primary contact for men's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving and softball since August of 2020. He assisted with the communications efforts of the departments 22 Division III sports, including a busy Spring 2021 campaign with schedule alterations and fall team competitions during the COVID-19 pandemic.  He helped promote one All-American, one United States Track and Field and cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Field Athlete of the Year, three All-Region honorees, ten USA South Conference champions and the USA South Softball Player of the Year.

Before starting at Piedmont, Weiman was the graduate assistant at Midland University where he managed various aspects of sports information and event management duties across the 32 varsity sports offered by the Warriors. In addition to providing written content and in-game statistic management for 12 of the Warriors' teams, Weiman also created hype and highlight videos and traveled with teams to national tournaments, including serving as the acting SID for the men's basketball games at NCAA DI Nebraska-Omaha and Creighton.

Weiman earned valuable experience with the Bismarck Larks Baseball team as a media and video production intern during the summers of 2017 & 2018 in North Dakota. He contributed to the live-stream production of games including color commentary as part of the 2017 Northwoods League Broadcasting Team of the Year. During his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, Weiman worked with both the Big Ten Network Student U and KRUI Student Radio where he served as a camera operator, director and commentator and wrote games summaries and other articles for the KRUI website covering the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Weiman graduated from the University of Iowa in 2018 with a bachelor of arts in Journalism and Mass Communications and a bachelor of science in sport and recreation management. Weiman earned his master of science in adult and organizational learning from Midland University in 2020.
