Aug. 26, 2022 – In preparation to take on the 2022-23 campaign with a seasoned lineup and keep the momentum going from a competitive postseason in the spring, the Loras College women's tennis team was picked to finish fourth in the inaugural American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Friday.
The Duhawks went 11-7 last season with a 5-3 record in league matches, advancing to the conference semifinal match for the first time since 2017. The team returns both All-Conference honorees
Isabel Schwabe and
Lauren Diiulio in addition to A-R-C Individual Tournament medalists
Clair Moore,
Dorothy Deans and
Sara Backus.
Luther College received eight first place votes after winning its third-straight regular season and AQ Tournament titles last season. Coe College was picked second with one first-place vote and Wartburg College came in seeded third. Central College came in fifth behind the Duhawks, followed by Nebraska Wesleyan University, Simpson College, Buena Vista University and the University of Dubuque to round out the poll.
The Duhawks begin match play on Saturday, Sept. 3 at home against the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Matches at the Tucker Tennis Courts are set to begin at 11 A.M.
