APPLETON, Wis. (Sept. 20, 2022) – Two goals in the first four minutes of action jumpstarted a solid say for the (RV)/No. 15 Loras College women's soccer team as the Duhawks took down the Lawrence University Vikings 4-0 on the road for the team's fourth straight win.
Senior forward
Ryleigh O'Brien and junior midfielder
Bella Talbot each tallied goals early on to set the tone for the Duhawks (5-0-2) as they cruised to victory after amassing a multi-goal lead over the Vikings (4-4-0). The Duhawks' fourth win in a row also ends Lawrence's four-game winning streak.
O'Brien and Talbot each assisted on the other's goal during the early scoring while junior midfielder
Hannah Schmitz also tallied an assist on Talbot's goal.
Senior forward
Caitlin Farrell assisted on another O'Brien goal, her second of the game and already her sixth of the season, in the 27
th minute to push the lead to 3-0 ahead of the halftime break.
Loras struck even earlier in the second half as senior forward
Abby Eriksen found the net just 36 seconds into the final period. Eriksen's goal came courtesy of an assist from senior midfielder
Payton McDonnell and proved to be the final goal as the Duhawks subbed frequently in the second half.
The Duhawks dominated time of possession and fired a total of 36 shots compared to just two for the Vikings.
Loras returns home this Saturday, Sept. 24, for the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opener versus Nebraska Wesleyan University at 7:30 P.M. The game is part of Loras' fifth annual Latinx Heritage Night celebration and also serves as Senior Day for the women's soccer program.
