Sept. 21, 2022 – Loras College's women's volleyball team dropped its eighth consecutive match and its second straight American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) match as the Duhawks fell 3-0 at home to the (RV) Coe College Kohawks on Wednesday night.
The Duhawks (3-9, 0-2) couldn't keep up with the Kohawks (10-3, 2-0) as the opposition earned its third consecutive victory and its first win in a true road game in 2022.
Neither side was particularly efficient in the match as the highest attacking percentage in a set was a .214 for the Kohawks in the second set. Their total percentage for the match was just .122 while the Duhawks finished in negative figures at -.024.
Loras stayed close for much of the first set but twice allowed the Kohawks to go on runs of 4-0 or better, allowing Coe to sneak out with the 25-20 victory. Each of the next two sets were more decisive as Coe stretched its leads early on in those frames, leading to a pair of 25-15 decisions to seal the match.
Coe's Kate Tidman led all scorers with 10 kills, making her the only player to reach double figures in that category. The Duhawks were led by senior pin
James Keefe as she totaled six kills while adding eight digs.
Junior setter
Sara Hoskins totaled 17 assists for the match and again proved her worth on the defensive end as she ranked second on the team with 12 digs and added three block assists. Only the libero, senior
Sam Stoffregen, has more digs in the match as she finished with a match-high 18.
The Duhawks get back to action this weekend as they host a tri-match with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Edgewood College this Saturday, Sept. 24. Game times for the tri-match in the Athletic and Wellness Center are set for 12, 2, and 4 P.M.
