O'Brien, Talmadge Earn A-R-C Athlete of the Week Honors

September 26, 2022

Sept. 26, 2022 – Loras College football's Scott Talmadge and women's soccer's Ryleigh O'Brien have been named as American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Players of the Week at their respective positions after helping lift their teams to conference victories on Saturday at the Rock Bowl.

Talmadge was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in his career after helping the Duhawks take down Nebraska Wesleyan University 49-31 in the home opener on Saturday afternoon. O'Brien earned her second Offensive Player of the Week honor this year and her third weekly award overall after leading the Duhawks to a pair of dominating wins this past week.
Talmadge was a perfect 7-for-7 on PAT attempts in the Duhawks' win over the Prairie Wolves on Saturday. Those seven makes now rank as the fourth-most in a game in program history. He also tallied 457 kickoff yards and averaged 57.1 yards per kickoff. The sophomore is now 15-for-18 on PATs this season.

O'Brien put together one of the best two-game stretches the women's soccer program has seen in quite some time as she tallied two goals in each of Loras' two games this past week. The senior forward scored twice and added an assist in the Duhawks' 4-0 win at Lawrence University, then one-upped herself with two goals and two assists in the team's 6-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Senior Day. She totaled a stellar 11 points in those two games as her six points on Saturday night tied a career-high she had set back in 2019.

Football improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in A-R-C play while women's soccer moved to 6-0-2 and 1-0 in the conference.
