PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team clinched the American Rivers Conference Regular Season title outright with a 3-1 win over Central College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Duhawks struck first with a goal from
Julia Neary at the 16:01 minute mark, which gave the Purple and Gold a narrow 1-0 lead at the midway point.
Central's Josie Newton scored the equalizing goal for the Dutch in the 61
st minute of play to tie things up at 1-1.
Loras (15-1-0 overall, 8-0-0 A-R-C) netted a pair of goals just 11 seconds apart to remain undefeated in regular season conference play for the third consecutive year.
The first of the Duhawk goals came from
Savannah Johnson who found the back of the net off an assist from teammate
Hannah Schmitz, while the second came from Neary who recorded her first multi-goal game, scoring the final goal of the contest off a pass from Johnson.
Central (9-4-4, 4-3-1) totaled three shots, putting two of them on target, while Loras rattled off 19 shots with nine of them being on frame.
Up Next: The Duhawks will host the American Rivers Conference Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 1. They will take on the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 seed quarterfinal game, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 28.
