Box Score DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College Duhawks are off to a 2-0 start in the 2023-24 season after taking down the Concordia University-Wisconsin Falcons, 87-75, on Sunday evening inside the AWC. Four different Duhawks finished with double figures while 10 different players registered points en route to the 12-point victory.
The win was the second-straight win over the Falcons, as Loras and now owns a 4-2 series record.
Ali Sabet led the Purple and Gold with 23 points, shooting 4-of-8 from behind the arc. The fifth-year senior nearly recorded a double-double by finishing with a team-high eight rebounds.
Jared Pearson continued his strong start to the season, scoring 19 points and connecting on four threes in 27 minutes.
Jackson Molstead recorded 16 points, six assists, and three rebounds in his second game with Loras, while
Jack Haynes registered 10 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes.
The biggest difference between the two squads came behind the charity stripe, as Loras made the most of its opportunities. The Duhawks connected on 96.2% (25-26) of its attempts, while the Falcons went 29-of-41.
The two teams traded baskets and eventually came to a eight-all tie at the 15:14 mark in the first half.
Tyler Bass would break the tie with a three-pointer, which would be the only lead Loras would need the rest of the way. The Duhawks built a 12 point lead in the first half, before leading by as much as 16 in the second half.
For the second-straight game, the Duhawks controlled the glass, out-rebounding Concordia University-Wisconsin, 37-23, including a mark of 13-4 on offensive rebounds.
Loras returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Cedar Rapids to take on the University of Northern Iowa. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN +.
