DUBUQUE, Iowa –
Sami Martin, a senior forward on the Loras College women's basketball team, has earned a spot on the preseason D3hoops.com All-America Honorable Mention team, the website announced on Wednesday.
Last season, Martin was named to the D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region squad, while also garnering WBCA Honorable Mention All-American honors. The accolades didn't stop there for the Platteville, Wis. native though. For the third consecutive season she secured a spot on the First-Team All-Conference squad as well as being the American Rivers Conference Player of the Week twice (Jan. 3, Feb. 20) throughout the 2022-23 campaign.
During her junior year, Martin appeared in 29 games, earning the start in 28 of them. She led the team in total points (451) and in points per game (15.6), while also posting a team-high in total rebounds (231) and in rebounds per game (8). She scored a career-high 30 points against crosstown rival, University of Dubuque on Feb. 15, which accounted for one of her six double-doubles of the season.
Martin is one of two A-R-C athletes receiving this preseason honor. Wartburg College's Sara Faber captured a spot on the fourth team following a standout junior season. Faber was named the conference MVP, First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference.
