DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's basketball team secured an 84-54 victory against Hamline University Friday night on Lillis Court.
The Duhawks were able to grab an early lead as a steal from
Tess Johnson led to a
Claire Wagner layup to give Loras (6-2 overall, 2-1 A-R-C) a 21-11 advantage. Loras would continue to maintain momentum as
Madison Haslow hit a three to put the Duhawks up 33-14 midway through the second quarter. Loras outscored Hamline (5-3 overall, 4-2 MIAC) 21-9 in the quarter. The Purple and Gold led by as many as 31 in the second half to secure the victory in which they never trailed.
Senior
Madison Fleckenstein led the Duhawks with 17 points, followed by
Madison Haslow with 14 points.
Daniella Jarrell led the Duhawks with eight assists and six rebounds.
As a team, Loras shot 53.6 percent (30-of-56) from the field and 50 percent (15-of-30) from beyond the arc. The Duhawks were able to get good contribution from their bench with 31 bench points, compared to Hamline's five.
The Pipers were led by Lydia Lecher who scored a game-high 18 points. Michaela Stamer followed with 12 points.
Up Next: Loras will travel to Puerto Rico for their next two games. The Duhawks will play Dec. 19 against Elizabethtown College and Dec. 20 against Union College. Tipoffs are set for 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively.
