DUBUQUE, Iowa – Eight members of the Loras College football program have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the 2023 fall semester, according to the organization's official release on Tuesday.

Dawson Charley,
Evan England,
Andrew Hefel,
Niko Jemilo,
Josh Rydberg,
Tyson Smith, and
Scott Talmadge are among the honorees that are representing Loras on the list. For Jemilo, Rydberg, and Talmadge, the honor is the first such of their careers. Earning their second career distinction is Charley, England, Hefel, and Smith, while Bower is receiving the honor for the third time of his career.
The Purple and Gold's eight representatives on the Academic All-District list are tied for the most of any school in the American Rivers Conference along with Wartburg College.
The 2023 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
To be considered for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the teams' games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). Additionally, nominees must have completed one full calendar year at his/her institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
