NEW ULM, Minn. – The Loras College men's basketball team turned in a dominant showing on Saturday night en route to a 115-53 victory over the Knights of Martin Luther College.
Sophomore guard
Emmett Loew registered a game-high 20 points for Loras (5-1 overall, 1-1 American Rivers Conference), knocking down a career-high six threes. Following Loew on the score sheet was forward
Tyler Bass with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor.
Ali Sabet registered seven assists and scored 16 points, giving the fifth-year guard his seventh-straight game finishing with double-digits – a mark that dates to last season.
Myles Barry recorded his first career double-double after scoring 12 and pulling in a career-best 12 rebounds.
Jackson Molstead had 11 points, while
Declan Ciurlik scored seven.
The Duhawks connected on five of their first six shots, including three attempts from deep, and built a commanding 13-0 advantage after just 1:47 of play. The Purple and Gold continued its strong shooting and opened led by as much 33 before the half. At the break, the Duhawks led 60-30.
The second half saw Loras continue to dominate as the program knocked down half of its shot attempts (20-40), eight of which came from beyond the arc. Loras' offensive barrage paved way to the 62-point decision over the Knights (0-6).
The Duhawks finished the night 41-85 (48.2 percent) from the field and 22-of-54 (40.7 percent) from beyond the arc, while holding Martin Luther College to just a 16-of-52 (30.8 percent) ledger on field goals. The Duhawks also had a 48-29 edge on the glass and a 23-11 margin in assists, as well as 65-15 and 28-8 tallies in bench points and second chance points, respectively.
Loras returns to action a week from today on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Tip is set for 3 p.m. inside Snyder Arena.
