NAPERVILLE, Ill. (March 25, 2023) - The (RV) Loras College men's volleyball team traveled to North Central College for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match on Saturday evening where they fell in a competitive three-set match to the seventh-ranked Cardinals.
The Duhawks (15-4, 4-3 CCIW) had a tough loss in the last meeting versus the Cardinals (17-3, 7-0 CCIW) and were looking forward to this CCIW rivalry. Duhawks stared off hot in the match up 4-0 in the first set by two aces from senior
Patrick Mahoney and kills by senor
Joe Horn and junior
Michael Dziewior. The first set was a great set where no team had an edge until the last moments when North Central took the first set 25-22. Sophomore

Dorian Fiorenza had a few kills to keep pace with the Cardinals.
Leading into the second set it was all North Central but Dziewoir had the Duhawks fighting with a couple of kills and some assists from the man in the middle in Horn and Mahoney. The Duhawks kept it close most of the set but would lose the second set of the match. Junior
Tyler Kratochvil got the Duhawks some points off of kills as well in the second set.
More of the same would come in the third set where the Duhawks would keep it close and the Cardnials would sneak out a couple of points here and there. Early in the third set the Duhawks rattled out three straight points with kills coming form Fiorenza, Horn, and Dziewoir. Mayotte would lead in kills for the Duhawks with 11, followed by Fiorenza with 10 and Dziewior with eight, as Dziewior led the team in hitting percentage with .533. Horn would lead the team in assist with 31 as he was the main setter for the Duhawks in this match.
The Duhawks are back at home versus Carthage College for the final time this regular season on Wednesday, March 29 at 7 P.M.
