DES MOINES, Iowa (April 27, 2023) – Loras College's track & field sent both a men's and women's 4x800-meter relay team to Des Moines to start the Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon, and both teams delivered massive performances to re-write the record books.
The Duhawk men eclipsed their own existing NCAA Division III record in their event and took the race championship with a time of 7:22.17. The time from seniors
Wyatt Kelly,
Carter Oberfoell,
Mike Jasa, and junior
Ryan Harvey eclipsed the Duhawks' previous all-time record by six seconds and was 15 seconds ahead of second place in the race. It's the third Division III all-time record Loras has set this season across both men's and women's outdoor track with
Kassie Parker having already set two such records this season.
Parker had a hand in another strong outing on Thursday as she was part of the women's 4x800-meter relay team that ran a 9:11.55 at the Drake Relays. That time from Parker, seniors
Ellie Osterberger,
Kaylee Osterberger, and freshman
Elly Burds came in as the second-best time in programs history and was third in the event.
Action at the Drake Relays continues at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on Friday and Saturday.
