Bourne Shatters Program Record to Lead Loras Across Opening Weekend

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Loras College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season across four meets Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, with competitors traveling to Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis University, North Central College and Central College.

At the WashU Distance Carnival, Isaac Bourne delivered a historic performance in the 10000 meters, shattering a 50-year-old program record by 36 seconds with a time of 29:10.94. His mark ranks 11th all-time in Division III, leads all of DIII this season and establishes a new American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) all-time record in the event.

At the Saint Louis University Speed and Power Meet, Aiden Ruiz posted a personal-best time of 4:03.15 in the 1500 meters.

Competing at the North Central First Chance Invitational, Owen Leitzen recorded a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 58.70.

Liam Kelso added a personal best of 11.77 in the 100 meters, while Isaac Oster clocked a personal-best 23.49 in the 200 meters. Matthew Hanselman continued the trend with a personal-best 2:08.57 in the 800 meters, and Andrew Schlemme notched a personal-best leap of 5.89 meters in the long jump.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Enoch Thielhelm, Gavin Denholm, Sam Horman and Vince Frederiksen captured first place with a time of 8:22.27.

In the throws at the Central College Invitational, Eli Pflipsen recorded a personal-best mark of 52.99 meters in the hammer throw.

At the North Central Distance Fling, Lucas Arnold and Jack Ruswick each turned in personal-best performances. Arnold clocked 4:07.31 in the 1500 meters, while Ruswick posted a time of 16:36.21 in the 5000 meters.
