Men’s Track and Field Excels at Home Meet on Senior Night

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's track and field team turned in a strong showing on its home track Tuesday, highlighted by event victories, personal-best performances, and a celebration of its senior class.

Loras opened the meet with momentum, capturing the 4x100-meter relay title as Casey Tath, Zeke Irving, Ian Fagan, and Daken Pessman combined for a winning time of 41.61.

Tath continued his standout day in the sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in a personal-best 10.78 before adding another victory in the 200-meter dash with a personal-record time of 21.52. Charlie Irwin posted a season-best time of 23.36 in the 200, while Tre'jon Igess recorded a personal-best 23.39.

In the middle-distance events, Aiden Ruiz led a group of Duhawks posting strong marks. Ruiz recorded a personal-best 3:57.41 in the 1,500 meters and later added a personal record in the 800 meters (1:59.25). Teammates Colby Cryer (4:05.88), Enoch Thielhelm (4:07.97), Brayden Frey (4:08.53), and Ethan Stasch (4:40.71) also notched personal bests in the 1,500, while Frey added a personal record in the 800 (2:02.67). Owen Leitzen and Stasch also recorded personal bests in the 800 meters, with Leitzen finishing in 2:05.13 and Stasch crossing in 2:18.04.

The 400-meter dash saw multiple Loras athletes turn in top performances, led by Zeke Irving's season-best 49.00. Isaac Oster (52.34) and Mathew Hanselman (53.19) each recorded personal-best times.

Additional improvements came in the 100-meter dash, where Irwin posted a season-best 11.39, Jonah Irving ran a personal-best 11.80, and James Kostomiris clocked a personal record of 12.55.

In the field events, DreAnthony Jackson delivered a personal-best throw of 16.84 meters in the shot put. Ted Dost (10.95 meters) and Braxton Nelson (10.41 meters) also recorded personal-best throws. Carter Allen added a season-best mark of 50.23 meters in the discus. Igess led the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.84 meters, followed by Irwin, who also set a personal record at 6.31 meters. Paul Rasp added a season-best clearance of 3.90 meters in the pole vault.

Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Platteville, Wisconsin, to compete at the UW-Platteville Invite on Saturday, April 11.
