June 21, 2023 – Loras College wrestling senior Zeke Smith has been named a Second Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC) in Wednesday morning's official release.

Smith is now a three-time CSC Academic All-American after garnering the accolade in each of the past two seasons prior to 2022-23. He is one of only two Duhawk wrestling student-athletes ever to earn CSC Academic All-America honors, along with senior Shane Liegel, who earned two such honors in his career.

The senior from Prairie du Sac, Wis. was a leader on the mat this season for the Duhawks, who spent a majority of the season ranked inside the top-20 of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings. At 157-lbs, Smith was 16-3 overall and ranked near the top of his weight class for much of the season.  At the NCAA Lower Midwest Regional, he suffered his first loss of the season in the bracket championship match, but still punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championship in Roanoke, Vir., where he went 3-2 and placed fourth to earn All-America honors. Smith was also a NWCA Scholar All-American and an A-R-C All-Conference wrestler this past season.

Smith is the only athlete from the A-R-C to be featured on this at-large Academic All-America list.
