Brown Earns Conference Honor After Three Touchdown Performance

September 18, 2023

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Loras College wide receiver 'Mani Brown has been named this week's American Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the 44-29 win over Luther College, the league office announced on Monday.

It's the first such honor in Brown's career at Loras and first since Evan England back on Oct. 17, 2022.
Against the Norse, Brown caught nine passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns, including a 34-yard strike from England in the early goings of Saturday's victory. His three touchdown receptions tie a career-high, with his previous instance coming against Luther on Oct. 29 of last season.

Those three touchdown receptions also tie the junior out of Fort Meyers, Fla., for second-most in a single game in program history. Only he, Ben McMahon (2008), Josh Schulte (twice, 2017), Nate Even (2014, 2015), and Mikey Castro (2015) have accomplished the feat before.

Brown now has 17 career touchdown receptions, a mark that stands as the fifth-most in program history, while his 1,328 yards place him 11th all-time for Loras. His next catch will be his 100th, making him the ninth Duhawk to eclipse the century mark.

Brown's six touchdowns this season are the most in the A-R-C and third-most in the nation, while his 23 catches place him third among conference players. He stands fourth in the A-R-C in yards (281), trailing first by 48.

The Duhawks will return to action this weekend when they head down Loras Blvd and take on the Spartans of the University of Dubuque. Saturday's kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Chalmers Field.
