DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College Duhawk women's soccer team earned its third-straight victory on Wednesday evening, defeating the No. 23 St. Catherine University Wildcats, 2-0, inside the Rock Bowl.
The Duhawks (6-1 overall) were on the offensive early and often in the first half, evident by the team's 8-1 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes.
Kaighin Frost finally got a shot to hit the back of the net in the game's 47
th minute, scoring off an assist by
Hannah Schmitz.
The Duhawks added to their lead 20 minutes later when
Libby Perry's corner kick curled into the back of the net to put Loras up 2-0. The Duhawk defense tightened up and limited the Wildcats (6-2) to only a single shot over the final 25 minutes of play, securing the victory and continuing Loras' perfect mark at home (4-0).
Loras led the game in shots (14-4), corner kicks (6-2), and shots on goal (6-3). Individually, Schmitz took the most shots for Loras at four, landing two on goal. Trailing Schmitz for the lead in shots was
Bella Talbot, who recorded three shots with one coming on goal. Goalkeeper
Kyndal Kells recorded three saves in the shutout victory.
Up Next: Loras will return to the pitch on Saturday to face its first American Rivers Conference foe of the season in Buena Vista University on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. inside the Rock Bowl.
