La Crosse, Wis. – The Loras College women's volleyball team fell in a pair of matches to Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at a triangular this evening.
Edgewood 3, Loras 2
The Duhawks fell 25-21 in a tight first set against the Eagles, but Loras bounced back with a decisive win taking set two by a score of 25-14.
Loras (7-7 overall) took set three 25-13, but proceeded to come up short in sets four (25-16) and five (15-10) to fall 3-2 to Edgewood.
As a team, Edgewood (8-4 overall) hit .169 finishing with 51 kills and 28 errors in 136 attempts. The Eagles were led by Abigial Hoffman who put down 13 kills. Ashley Bruehlman followed closely behind with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Katie Borchert added in 10 kills in the win. Abbey Eivins dished out 26 assists, while Jennacy Wille tallied a team-high 15 digs for the Eagles.
The Duhawks offense was led by
Sophie Younkin who totaled 16 kills.
Cat Meyer totaled 10 kills, while
Autumn Finch chipped in seven kills and six blocks in the loss.
Sara Hoskins tallied 38 assists, while teammate
Jenna Bistline posted a game-high 16 digs for Loras.
UW-La Crosse 3, Loras 1
Loras (7-8 overall) came out on top in the opening set (25-20) against the Eagles. UW-La Crosse won the following three sets by scores of 25-13, 27-25 and 25-16 to take the match 3-1.
UW-La Crosse (12-5 overall) was led by Brianne Korducki who totaled 16 kills and 15 digs. Gabrialla Johnson put down 12 kills and tallied three blocks, while Jackie Oetterer dished out 28 assists in the win. Korducki also led the team in digs with 15.
Younkin led the way for the Duhawks with 11 kills.
Patrycja Jarzabek added in eight kills, while
Iva Senio totaled eight digs in the loss. Hoskins tallied 30 assists for the Duhawks as well. As a team, Loras .065 which featured 28 kills and 30 assists in 123 attempts.
