DUBUQUE, Iowa –
Ali Sabet scored 21 points and
Jackson Molstead had 16 points with four early three pointers, but No. 25 Loras College fell short at home against No. 23 Coe College in an 84-73 loss on Wednesday night.
The Duhawks (15-2 overall, 6-2 American Rivers Conference) turned the ball over 17 times and struggled to find offensive rhythm in the second half en route to the program's second loss of the season - both of which have come against Coe.
Cael Schmitt led the way for the Kohawks (17-2, 9-1) with 21 points, while TJ Schnurr added in 18.
The Duhawks led 51-43 with 14:25 to play, but an 11-2 run fueled by Schnurr and Schmitt swung the momentum back in Coe's favor. The two teams battled back and forth over the following five minutes, but the whistle became a factor as Loras was called for 12 second half fouls.
As a team, the Purple and Gold finished the night shooting 46.8 percent (29-for-62) from the floor, but Coe held the advantage at 54 percent (34-for-63). Loras led the rebound battle at a margin of 36-31.
Up next, the Duhawks look to bounce back when it hosts the No. 19 Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip is set for 3 p.m.
