DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team defeated its crosstown rival, the University of Dubuque, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Oyen Field.

Both squads were eager to strike first in the second half, following a scoreless opening half. In the 51^st minute of play, Athena Sheets netted her third goal of the season off a pass from Lauren Riggle to give the Duhawks a 1-0 lead.

The Purple and Gold extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Kaighin Frost off another assist from Riggle in the 85^th minute.

Loras (12-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 A-R-C) outshot the University of Dubuque (7-3-3, 2-2-0) 27-2, placing 11 shots on goal, compared to the one shot the Spartans put on frame.

Up Next: The Duhawks welcome Wartburg College to the Rock Bowl on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for a midweek conference showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
