DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's soccer team battled to a 1-0 victory as they knocked down Wartburg College Tuesday evening.
Loras (7-3-6, 3-0-1 A-R-C) took advantage of an opportunity in the 28
th minute as
Dani Galiana Torres snuck one past the Knights' goalkeeper off assists from
Bryan Basinger and
Owen Ivanuck.
Galiana Torres' goal put the Duhawks on the board, even though Wartburg (6-4-3, 3-2-0 A-R-C) had more opportunities to score overall. The Purple and Gold held onto the lead for the remainder of the match and played strong defense in front of goalkeeper
Ben Krogman.
The Duhawks managed to hold onto the victory despite the constant pressure from the Knights offense. Wartburg fired off 19 shots, 11 of which were on frame, but could never capitalize on an opportunity.
Krogman earned the shutout and was perfect in goal for the Purple and Gold as he turned away all 11 shots he faced.
Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Indianola, Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on the Simpson College Storm. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
