LINCOLN, Neb. – The Loras College women's volleyball team fell to Nebraska Wesleyan University, 3-1, in the first round of the American Rivers Conference tournament on Tuesday night inside Snyder Arena.
In set one, Loras (16-15 overall, 4-4 American Rivers Conference) took an early 4-3 lead, but after a kill and a service ace by the Prairie Wolves, the Duhawks were unable to grab a lead the rest of the set. The home team took set one by a score of 25-16.
In set two, after trailing 7-4, the Purple and Gold rattled off five straight points to take a 9-7 lead. Nebraska Wesleyan (21-8, 5-3) was able to regain a 22-19 lead late in the set, but it was the Duhawks who rallied and went on 6-1 run to take set two, 25-23.
Nebraska Wesleyan never trailed in set three (25-12) and scored 10 unanswered points in set four (25-16) to take both sets and earn a spot in the semifinals of the A-R-C tournament.
Autumn Finch led the Duhawks with 13 kills, followed by Elaina Schroeder and Cat Meyer, who each recorded nine. Sara Hoskins tallied 38 assists on the night as well as 11 digs. Hoskins finished her career at Loras as the all-time assist leader as well as the fourth person in program history to amass 1,500 career digs.
