WAVERLY, Iowa – The Loras College football team concluded their 2024 season with a 69-14 loss to #11 Wartburg Knights on Saturday afternoon inside Walston-Hoover Stadium.
Quarterbacks
Joey Helminiak,
Max Golembiewski, and
Garrett Hutchison all saw action for the Duhawks. Heminiak completed eight of 12 passes for 34 yards, while Golembiewski completes seven of 11 passes for 61 and a touchdown. Hutchison completes 2 of his three pass attempts.
Carter Cahill led the Loras run game, rushing 15 times for 35 yards.
Amarie Richardson and
Mick Schultz each tallied nine carries for 49 and 36 yards, respectively.
Jimmy Peterson,
Owen Libby, and
Jaheem Haynes all recorded three catches for the Duhawks, while
Brock Couch found the endzone with his one catch.
On defense,
Michael Carney had 14 tackles, while
Brandon Glover recorded six. Glover also added two pass break-ups to his stat line.
After the Knights open the game with back-to-back touchdowns,
Cormaic Flynn provided a special teams spark when he took a kickoff 81-yards to the endzone to cut the Wartburg lead in half (14-7). The knights added four touchdowns and two field goals before Golembiewski connected with Couch for a 21-yard touchdown pass. The Knights would get two more fourth quarter touchdowns en route to their ninth win of the year.
