GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Loras College women's basketball team falls to Hope College in the first day of the Hope College Tournament this evening.
The Duhawks went on a five to zero run to start the first quarter, but the Dutch would quickly close the gap and would end the first quarter with a 19-10 lead.
For the remainder of the game the Purple and Gold would have chances to decrease the Hope (2-0, 0-0 MIAA) lead, but could not get the ball to fall in the hoop.
From the floor Loras (0-3, 0-0 A-R-C) shot 36.2 percent (21-58) from within the arc and 20.8 percent (5-24) from the three-point line and beyond. The top scorer on the night for the Duhawks was
Claire Wagner who had six points on the night along with five rebounds.
Kylie Rigby,
Ashtyn Kelderman, and
Emma Webb all recorded four points respectively to add to the scoring for the Duhawks.
Olivia Bellows was the leading scorer for Hope as she had 11 points on the night and tallied two rebounds for the Dutch. Only two points behind Bellows were Jada Garner and Terin Maynard, each scoring eight points for their team.
Up Next: The Duhawks take on Calvin University for the second day of the Hope College Tournament. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Van Noord Arena.
