DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's soccer team came up short to Central College, 3-1, in the first round of the American Rivers Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Dutch opened the scoring in the sixth minute of play with a goal from Spencer Taylor.
Nearing the 18
th minute mark, the Duhawks answered back and landed one in the back of the net off a cross from
Townes Robertson that found
Dani Galiana Torres' head to even the score at one apiece.
The match was an offensive battle as both teams were pushing to take the lead. Loras (9-5-7, 5-1-2 A-R-C) outshot Central (8-7-2, 3-4-1 A-R-C) 15-9, eight of which landed on frame for the Duhawks compared to the seven for the Dutch.
Unfortunately, Central would go on to score the final two goals of the match. Joe Brown scored off an assist from Alejo Marcon at the 40:23-minute mark and Ian Gredell would seal the deal in the 61
st minute with a goal of his own.
The loss marks the end of the 2024 season for the Purple and Gold.
