Women's Wrestling Falls Short in Season Opener

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Loras College women's wrestling team kicked off their 2024-25 season at the Pointer Open this morning.

In the 103-pound weight class, two Duhawks had to bow out due to injury.

In the 117-pound weight class, Mia Ward fell short to both her opponents, unattached Aspen Beltran and North Central College's Eliana Paramo.

In the 124-pound weight class, Alyssa Seippel came up short against Taylor Meiss from North Central and Mattie Papenthien from the University of Dubuque.

In the final weight class for the Duhawks at 145 pounds, Ava McDermott dropped her matches to Riley Aamold from North Central and Elleni Johnson from Grand Valley State.

Up Next: The Purple and Gold travel to Decorah, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 9 to compete at the Luther College Open.
