DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's wrestling team competed at the Loras Open on Saturday morning inside the Graber Sports Center.
Lucy Read led the Duhawks with a runner-up finish in the 207-pound weight class. Read dropped both of her bouts to Lakeland's Niyasia McCampbell, falling 10-0 by technical fall in 55 seconds in the opening match and again by 10-0 technical fall in 2:14.
Kylie Loffer placed fourth at 103 pounds. She opened the day with an 11-0 technical fall loss to Grace Murphy of the University of Dubuque in 2:13, followed by a 10-0 technical fall loss to Alexis Winecke of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1:03. Loffer closed the tournament with a 12-6 loss by fall to Izzy Paz of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 5:34.
Grace Patterson rounded out the Duhawk competitors at 138 pounds, finishing with one win and two losses. She fell to Margaret Zuber of UW-Stevens Point, 8-1 by fall in 2:42, before earning a 4-0 win by fall over Adelle Patterson of Simpson College in 1:57. Patterson wrapped up the day with a 12-2 loss by fall to Esther Belzer of Central College in 4:09.
