MEQUON, Wis. - The Loras College men's wrestling team competed at the Concordia University Wisconsin Open on Saturday with five wrestlers placing.
Â
Junior
Chase Fiser (149 lbs) was the lone champion for the Duhawks. He looked solid all day, reaching the semifinals after three straight decision wins. Things got a little shaky in the semis as Fiser needed a big, thudding takedown in overtime to secure his spot in the finals. His final match was less nerve-racking when he kept scoring on his way to a 7-2 win.

The Purple and Gold had another finalist at 157 lbs in junior
Eric Kinkaid. He dominated his way to the finals, racking up three pins in a row before a 14-2 major decision in the semis. In the finals, scoring was back-and-forth until sudden victory. Unfortunately, a takedown for his opponent handed Kinkaid a loss and a runner-up finish.

Junior
Dustin Bohren (165 lbs) had himself a successful day. He also reached the semifinals after a 22-6 tech, fall in 2:46, and a 10-0 major decision. In a close semis match, a lone takedown for Bohren's competitor was the difference in a 3-0 loss. Yet, he responded with a pin in 1:49 to reach the third place match. There, his opponent had to forfeit after reaching the maximum number of matches allowed to wrestle in a day, ending Bohren's tournament with a third place finish.

At 125 lbs, freshman
Connor Fiser looked impressive. He was another semifinalist after a 4-2 decision, a 19-4 tech fall, and an 8-5 overtime win. A loss to the returning national runner-up sent him to the consolations, where he dropped his semis match. Regardless, Fiser claimed fifth place, concluding with an 8-3 win.
Â
Senior
Kolten Crawford (149 lbs) had himself quite a tournament. After losing in the first round, he strung together five consecutive victories on the backside to reach the consolation championship. Sadly, Crawford had reached his match limit and had no choice but to forfeit his last match, placing him as consolation runner-up.Â
