Duhawks Fall Short in A-R-C Battle of the Hawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss to the Kohawks of Coe College 72-64 Tuesday evening inside the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.

Lexi Beier led the Duhawk offense with 12 points on the night, while securing two steals and registering one block. Claire Wagner also scored in double figures, finishing with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Wagner also tied for a team-high six rebounds.

Daniella Jarrell, Emerson Whittenbaugh, and Ashtyn Kelderman each scored nine points on the night. Jarrell dished out a team-high six assists, while Whittenbaugh recorded three steals and grabbed four rebounds. Kelderman blocked two shots and collected four rebounds on the night.

As a team, Loras (1-5, 0-1 A-R-C) shot 42.9 (24-of-56) percent from the field, 36 percent (9-of-25) from the three, and 70 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line.

Coe's (6-1, 1-0) Ellie Wisner paced the team in scoring with 18 points as she was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.Caydee Kirkham followed closely behind with 14 points, while securing seven boards and dishing out five assists. Taylor Brunson finished with 12 points, while pulling down nine rebounds and seven steals. Audrie Helmrichs rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Kohawks with 12 points and six rebounds.

As a team the visitors shot 47.2 (25-of-53) percent from the field, 50 (7-of-14) percent from beyond the arc, and 93.8 (15-of-16) percent from the free throw line.

The contest featured 13 lead changes and eight ties.

Up Next: The Purple and Gold travel to Waverly, Iowa on Wednesday, Dec. 4 to take on the Knights of Wartburg College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
