DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team put itself back in the win column with a 5-1 victory over Cornell College in a rain–shortened match on Thursday afternoon at the Tucker Tennis Courts.
Mary Breitbach and
Dorothy Deans grabbed an 8-7 (7-4) win over Makayla Johnson and Mac Graves at No. 1 doubles, while
Clair Moore and
Jessie Yelaska followed suit in the No. 3 spot, defeating Audrey Small and Isabella Wallin by a score of 8-3.
In singles play,
Leia Papanicholas secured an 8-3 win over Small at No. 3 singles, while
Clair Moore handled Wallin at No. 4 singles by a score of 8-3 as well.
Ellie Kalina swept Johnson in the No. 5 spot to earn the final Duhawk point of the match. Breitbach, Deans and Yelaska were unable to complete their singles matches due to the weather, however each of them led their opponents at the stopping point.
