DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College Baseball team (19-10 overall, 8-5 American Rivers) fell behind early in a 12-2 loss in eight innings to the Coe College Kohawks on Friday evening at Petrakis Park.
After a scoreless first inning, The Kohawks (20-10, 13-2) plated two in the second inning to grab the lead. Coe would go on to score four runs in the third, two in the fourth, and one at the top of the fifth to lead it 9-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
There, Loras would get itself on the board when a balk by Coe's pitcher allowed
Alex Sandoval to reach home from third. The Duhawks tacked on a second run an inning later after
Jackson Cullen ripped an RBI single through the right side to score
Daniel Rogers.
The Kohawks closed out the game with three runs in the eighth inning to complete the run rule.
Cullen went 3-for-3 at the plate with his RBI, followed by
Max McCallum,
Jack Carney,
Vince McDowell, Sandoval, and Rogers with a hit each.
TJ Boyd started the game for the Purple and Gold and pitched three innings, striking out one, before
Adam Williamson came in for relief. Williamson went 2.1 innings, striking out a game-high two. An injury forced Williamson out in the sixth.
Will Moonan closed out the game for Loras with 2.2 innings pitched, striking out one.

The Duhawks will look to get back into the swing of things tomorrow as the doubleheader action against the Kohawks is set to start at 1 p.m.
