DUBUQUE, Iowa – The third-seeded Loras College women's tennis team took down the No. 6 seed, Nebraska Wesleyan University, 5-2 in the American Rivers Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon at the Tucker Tennis Courts.

Mary Breitbach and Dorothy Deans scored the first point of the match for the Duhawks with an 8-2 win over Parker Brown and Anna Burt at No. 1 doubles. Jessie Yelaska and Leia Papanicholas gave the Purple and Gold a 2-1 lead heading into singles play after outlasting Gracey Smith and Abby Cole, 8-7 (7-3) at No. 3 doubles.

Breitbach soundly defeated Brown at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0, while Deans held off Ella Ford in the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-1, 5-7, 6-1. Clair Moore secured the match-ending point at No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Greta Wostoupal. Ellie Kalina and Yelaska were both leading their respective opponents at No. 5 and 6 singles; however, they did not need to finish their matches as the first team to win five matches was declared the winner.
