MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Loras College women's soccer team picked up right where it left off, shutting out the Aurora University Spartans, 4-0, on the road in its season opener.
After a scoreless first half,
Savannah Johnson netted one home off a penalty kick just two and a half minutes into the second half.
Shortly after,
Emerson Gasmann found the back of the net in the 68
th minute giving the Duhawks the 2-0 lead that opened the scoring for the remainder of the game.
Johnson tallied her second goal of the night at the 72:42-minute mark.
With just 32 seconds left in the contest,
Bella D'Amico scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Belle Johnson to secure the 4-0 victory for the Duhawks.
Loras (1-0-0) recorded 32 shots, 12 of which were on goal, while holding Aurora (0-1-0) to just one shot on goal.
Rachel Wandless earned the shutout and the victory in the net with one save.
