DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's volleyball team posted a 1-1 record on the first day of its own invitational.
The Duhawks took down the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 3-1, in their opening match, but came up short in the nightcap, falling 3-2 to No. 14 Washington University in St. Louis.

- The Duhawks fought back after trailing 22-19 late in the opening set, to tie things up at 23-23. Elaina Schroeder and Patrycja Jarzabek posted back-to-back kills to close out the first set, giving Loras the 25-23 win.
- Despite leading by as many as four early on in set two, the Falcons rattled off six unanswered points to take a 17-15 lead over the Purple and Gold. From that point on, both teams fought for every point with neither squad leading by more than two points. Jarzabek came in clutch for the Duhawks, breaking the final tie (24-24) with a solo block and service ace, which gave Loras the 26-24 set win as well as a 2-0 lead in the match.
- UW-River Falls broke an 8-8 tie in the third set with a three-point run and never looked back. The Duhawks attempted a comeback, cutting the nine-point deficit (20-11) to just two (20-18), but it wasn't enough as the Falcons ultimately took the set by a score of 25-21.
- In the final set, the Duhawks trailed by as many as six points (13-7), but rallied with a 9-1 run of their own to take a 16-14 lead over the visitors. The Falcons tied things up one last time at 16-16, before Loras used a 9-2 run to close out the set to take the match 3-1.

- Loras broke a 7-7 tie with a three-point run led by Hoskins, who tallied a kill and service ace, to take a 10-7 lead that they would hold onto and extend en route to take the opening set by a score of 25-19.
- The Duhawks came up short in set two (25-16) and set three (25-15).
- The Purple and Gold got back on track in set four, rattling off four consecutive points to take an 18-14 lead. The Bears were able to get within two points (18-16), but the Duhawks responded and extended the lead back to five. Loras tied the match up at two sets apiece with a 25-21 set four win to force set five.
- WashU led by as many as four (8-4), but the Duhawks worked their way back to knot the score up at 10-10. The Bears posted a 5-1 run to close out the set and take the match.
- Loras hit .150, which featured 56 kills and 31 errors in 167 attempts
