STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team opened conference play with a 7-0 victory over Buena Vista on Saturday evening.
The Duhawks came out firing as
Lauren Riggle put the team on the board in the second minute of play, when she connected with passes from
Savannah Johnson and
Reagan Lindsay to put the ball in the back of the net.
Just one minute later, Lindsay netted home her third goal of the season at the 3:14 mark off an assist by
Karly Weiss to give Loras (9-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 American Rivers Conference) a 2-0 lead only three minutes into the game. Riggle added to the scoring action with her second goal of the night, finishing a pass from Johnson to tally the third goal of the contest at the 4:27 mark.
Kaighin Frost joined in on the scoring at the 20:17 mark off an assist from
Isabel Russmann to earn her first goal of the season.
Chiara DiVito finished off the scoring for the first half by earning her first career goal of an assist by
Rylee Quillen.
The second half would be all Loras as
Athena Sheets tallied her first goal of the season at the 49:34 mark off assists from Frost and Lindsay.
Rounding out the scoring for the evening would come by way of
Emerson Gasmann, who netted her second goal of the season off an assist by
Sierra Morgano.
The Duhawks totaled 52 shots and put 23 of them on frame, while Buena Vista (5-4-1, 0-1-0) was unable to get a shot off due to the high pressure from the Loras defense.
