INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Loras College women's basketball team fell to Simpson College, 83-52, on Saturday afternoon inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
The Storm opened the game on an 8-0 run, that was stopped by a
Lexi Beier jump shot. The Duhawks cut the Simpson (9-8, 5-3 A-R-C) lead to two (11-9) late in the first quarter after a
Daniella Jarrell basket. Loras (6-10, 3-4) would go on to get outscored by 16 in the second quarter.
The home team controlled the second half, leading by as many as 34 in the half.
Loras was led by
Silvana Scarsella who had 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting and also hauled in eight rebounds. Beier added nine points off the bench as well as four rebounds. As a team, the Duhawks shot 31.1 percent (19-of-61) from the floor. Simpson was led by Molly Lutmer who had 22 points to lead all scorers. The Storm shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58) from the floor, while shooting 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from behind the three-point line.
