MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - AvaBlue McDermott was the sole Loras College women's wrestler who competed at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday morning.

In the Gold 145-pound weight class, McDermott received a bye in the Champ. Round 1.  In the next round, she faced off against Central Methodist University's Mina Himmel, where Himmel won by tech fall (10-0, 1:15).

The loss to Himmel placed McDermott in a consolation round where she wrestled Dana Cleveland of Wartburg. McDermott came up short as Cleveland won by a fall (1:13).

Up Next: Loras will serve as the host site for the American Rivers Conference women's wrestling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25. The meet is scheduled for 10 a.m.
