Duhawks Place Six at Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team delivered several impressive performances at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday with six Duhawks ending as place-finishers.

Hagan Taylor (149 lbs) highlighted the Duhawks' efforts with a third-place finish. After a razor-thin quarterfinal loss, Taylor dominated in the consolation bracket. His victories included a pin, and a tech fall in the third-place match, 21-6.

At 184 lbs, Kam Royster scored a strong performance to secure fifth place. Royster's tournament run featured a second-round pin and another fall in the consolation bracket. He capped his day off with a fifth-place victory by medical forfeit.

Nosa Egbon (141 lbs) earned a sixth-place finish with a series of hard-fought matches. He began with two decision wins before advancing to the quarterfinals. Egbon added a consolation tech fall victory to round out his performance.

At 157 lbs, Allen Catour delivered a solid performance, advancing to the seventh-place match. Along the way, Catour recorded multiple victories, including a decisive tech fall and a fall before finishing in eighth.

Gunnar Thompson (174 lbs) displayed resilience, advancing deep into the consolations. His tournament highlights included a sudden victory win and a first-period pin on his path to seventh place.

Abe Michel's (184 lbs) strong showing included a series of dominant performances in the consolations. He recorded a fall and a tech fall on his way to the seventh place match where he narrowly lost in sudden victory, earning him an eighth place finish.

Looking ahead, the Duhawks have a big conference dual on Tuesday, Jan. 21 against Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wrestling starts at 7 p.m., but the dual will also be broadcast on Iowa PBS as the channel brings back college wrestling coverage.
