DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College women's volleyball team fell to Nebraska Wesleyan University in four sets Friday evening inside the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center, dropping a 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16 decision. The loss moves to Duhawks to 5-15 overall and 1-3 in American Rivers Conference play, while Nebraska Wesleyan improves to 13-6 overall and 2-2 in A-R-C action.
After struggling in the first two sets, the Purple and Gold fought back in the third, taking the set 25-22 behind a balanced offensive attack. Senior
Elaina Schroeder led the Duhawks with 10 kills on .625 hitting, while
Allie Burke and
Cat Meyer added seven kills each.Â
Freshman
Alyssa Daughenbaugh anchored the offense from the setter position, recording 21 assists, with
Emily Mohr contributed eight. Loras also found production from the service line as
Autumn Finch tallied two aces, with Meyer and
Lucie Lambe adding one each.
Defensively, the Purple and Gold received a strong performance from
Iva Senio, who led the team with 20 digs, followed by Meyer with nine and Lambe with eight.
Despite the Duhawk efforts in the third set, Nebraska Wesleyan pulled away in the fourth set, closing out the match 25-16. Loras had opportunities to create momentum with several lead changes and ties, but the Prairie Wolves' balanced attack and consistency at the net proved decisive.
