Duhawks Cruise Past Greenville, 69-51

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Loras College women's basketball team picked up a wire-to-wire win over Greenville University Tuesday night. The Duhawks defeated the Panthers 69-51 for their first win of the season.

Lexi Beier got Loras (1-1 overall, 0-0 American Rives Conference) off to a hot start, outscoring the Panthers 7-2 by herself through the first three minutes of the game. The Duhawks never lost momentum thanks to Kylie Rigby, who connected on two three-pointers in the quarter to help give Loras a 31-16 lead after 10 minutes of play.

After a quiet first quarter, it was Claire Wagner's turn for a big period. Wagner put up eight points on 3-of-6 shooting in the frame as the Duhawks took a 13-point lead into the locker room.

Loras never looked back in the second half and led by as many as 21 at one point en route to a commanding road win.

Wagner finished with 13 points on the night and also grabbed nine rebounds. Emma Thompson matched Wagner with a career-high 13 points off the bench. Beier and Rigby rounded out double-digit scorers with 12 and 10 points, respectively. As a team, the Purple and Gold shot 37.7 percent (26-of-69) from the floor and 75 percent (12-of-16) from the charity stripe.

Greenville (0-1, 0-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) was led by Trinity Wade with eight points while Alyssa Seymour added seven.

Up Next: Loras will return to the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center to take on the Eagles of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Nov. 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
