Duhawks Compete in Season Debut at Luther Hill Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Loras College women's wrestling team opened its 2025–26 season Saturday morning at the Luther Hill Invite, hosted by Simpson College.

Four Duhawks competed on the day, with Kylie Loffer and Lucy Read wrestling in the varsity division, while Grace Patterson and Emely Mejia represented Loras in the freshman/sophomore division.

Loffer, competing at 103 pounds, dropped her opening match to York University's Jocelyn Prado by fall (0–4) but bounced back with a major decision over Lily Mendez of McMurry in 4:22. She closed the day with a loss by technical fall to Simpson's Emaline Hicks.

Read wrestled at 207 pounds and fell in her first two matches, by fall to Aaliyah Presley of Iowa Central (2:05) and to Taylor Rickley of Hastings (0:56). She finished strong with a fall victory over Soledad Luchman of Iowa Lakes in 11:48.

In the freshman/sophomore division, Mejia (110 pounds) came up short in both of her matches, falling to Kailyn Bridges of McMurry (0–4) and Mileena Notaro of Southeast Community College (0–10). Patterson (138 pounds) earned a fall win over Cornell's Yuli Torres (4–0) after losses to Hannah Brown of Iowa Central (0–4) and Ana Vilar of William Penn (1–12).

Up next: The Duhawks will travel to Decorah, Iowa, for the Luther Open, hosted by Luther College. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
