WAVERLY, Iowa — The Loras College men's soccer team came up short in the American Rivers Conference Tournament semifinals, falling 3–2 to Wartburg College on Wednesday night.
Loras (11-2-6, 4-1-3 A-R-C) found itself in an early hole as Wartburg's Flori Gembo scored three times in the opening 27 minutes to give the Knights (8-7-2, 5-2-1) a 3–0 halftime lead.
The Duhawks responded in the second half, with
Dani Galiana Torres heading in a goal in the 58th minute to put Loras on the board off an assist from
Julian Lopez. Just five minutes later,
Joseph Sorce buried a shot to cut the deficit to one. Despite a late push and a dangerous corner in the final seconds, Loras couldn't find the equalizer.
The loss marks the end of the 2025 season for the Purple and Gold.
