DUBUQUE, Iowa – For the fifth straight year, the Loras College women's soccer team captured the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament Championship, earning the program's 18th title with a 1-0 win over the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon at Oyen Field.
With the victory, the Duhawks (15-1-2, 6-1-1 A-R-C) secured the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament, knocking off the top-seeded Spartans (11-3-6, 7-0-1 A-R-C) in a rematch of the regular season championship.
Freshman
Ivy Wessel delivered the decisive moment in the 87th minute, converting a goal off a corner kick from
Emerson Gasmann to seal the win for Loras.
Goalkeeper
Hannah Fedinec turned in another strong performance with five saves, collecting her 16th shutout of the season to keep Dubuque scoreless.The Duhawks outshot the Spartans 13-8 and held a commanding 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.
